Our vision is a city where young people can grow in their faith, in the sense of their responsibility. It is a place where they can develop the best of their talents for the service of others, where they can listen to God’s voice in their lives and where they can be guided by true and sure lights. Our vision is a city where there is space for communion beyond any fences that separate peoples, where there is space to encounter God, a place where Hope brings joy and help for those who are in need.
Our vision is that Cebu can be this city. Inspired by this vision, we want to establish a new house for the mission of the Brothers of Saint John in Cebu City.
After 24 years of presence in this city, our community has grown and we need now to handle both challenges: the formation of the young brothers, and the apostolic mission. This requires that we open soon a house accessible to the people, and built for our missions, near the people we want to serve.
As you can see on this website, our focus is on the formation of the youth. We chose to build the new mission house in the area of Taboan, Cebu city. The place is very accessible and in the middle of communities with families and young people. The main missions of the School of Life program, the scholarship program, the St John Center with spiritual and human formation will take place in the new mission house.
However, a mission house is, first of all, a house where a community of brothers live. The chapel will be its heart, where the community gathers several times in a day, and where anybody can join the liturgy. In this house we want to bear witness to Christ who gathers us as brothers in one family.
